The constant demand for employees in the logistics industry increases interest in job offers in warehouses - also for highly qualified logisticians. The employees sought should meet a number of requirements, and the desire to improve professional qualifications is often one of them. Warehouse employee training is the basis on which the idea of ​​safe and efficient work should be based. What certificates and skills are worth acquiring before looking for employment as a warehouse worker?

Forklift training and qualifications

Permissions on forklifts it's today one of the most common requirements for warehouse employees. In order to obtain such authorizations, you must first complete a specialized course ending with a positive result of the UDT exam (Office of Technical Inspection). Completing such training earlier improves the warehouseman's qualifications and increases his chance of finding a job in a selected warehouse. You can also complete the course if you are already an employee - it is usually carried out on the company's premises, using forklifts provided by the employer.

Forklift course covers theoretical part, practical part and a set of necessary materials. During the practical part, in addition to typical equipment operation, future operators also learn about the construction of various types of forklifts, and the qualifications they receive later allow them to work using any type of device. The acquired qualifications are recognized in Poland and throughout the European Union (on request, an appropriate document can also be issued to the student in English).

Additional training for working in a warehouse

These types of "warehouse courses" significantly improve the level of skills and safety work in warehouses. Warehouse employees are equipped with knowledge about the organization of the workplace, possible threats and the appropriate response in the event of an accident. On-the-job training in operating shelves

It is destined for all warehouse employees and management staff. The training usually presents the specific nature of work in a given hall - from the design of the warehouse racking system, through the types of potential threats, to the most common mistakes made while working in a warehouse and the resulting threats. The course also includes familiarization with legal regulations and basic occupational health and safety training, which ends with the issuance of a certificate.

PRSES specialist training

According to the PN-EN 15635 standard, the owner of a company with active warehouse halls is obliged to appoint PRSES (Person Responsible for Storage Equipment Safetyy), i.e person responsible for the security of storage systems in the warehouse. Every warehouse employee should know the name of such a responsible person. Its task is to inspect all storage devices, maintain them in good technical condition and broadly understood care for the safety of the entire team operating the warehouse, as well as contacts and possible consultations with rack suppliers in case of need or the need to change the warehouse configuration, etc.

Safe operation and maintenance of shelving systems

Rack operation training comes under various names (safe operation of rack systems, rack inspection training, etc.). The topics of each of them may be slightly diffelease, but the vast majority of them are consistent and focus on knowledge that minimizes the risk of accidents in warehouse halls. What distinguishes them from general and mandatory occupational health and safety training is their specialization and emphasis safety related only to work with warehouse shelves. In addition to the principles of safe use of shelves, students will also learn: principles of maintenance and control of storage systems. A personal certificate received at the end of the course entitles its participant to carry out ongoing periodic inspections of warehouse equipment.

In the case of a forklift operation course, the benefits are obvious – acquiring additional skills to improve qualifications and expanding your own professional opportunities. What are the benefits of on-the-job training? Working in a warehouse requires a lot of attention, caution and good cooperation with the team. In this case it is a huge advantage prevention. Identifying potential threats and learning how to respond in a crisis is one of the most important factors own and team safety. On-the-job training, increasing the level of knowledge and thus occupational safety, enables effective reducing repair costs resulting from accidental errors and destruction.

In addition to the training required by law and specified in the PN-EN 15635: 2010 standard (Steel Static Storage Systems, Application and Maintenance of Storage Equipment), which determines the method of using and controlling warehouse racks, warehouse employees may also participate in dedicated training, created in accordance with the individual, curlease needs of the company.
