Lifts – what work should they be used for?

Various types of lifts

Passenger and goods lifts are devices without which it is difficult to imagine performing various tasks at heights. This is very diverse equipment, whose parameters and functions allow it to carry out many works and be used in numerous industries. Get to know the individual types of lifts, their characteristics and various applications!

Lifts – necessary devices when working at heights

The lifts were created for working at heights. Their diverse construction allows you to reach even hard-to-reach places and perform various tasks. What? These are primarily construction, renovation and renovation works. Personnel lifts are often associated with painting or other works on the facade. They then perfectly replace scaffolding.

In addition, they can be used, among others, for:

  • installation or repair of lighting (e.g. street lighting),
  • window washing,
  • installing external installations (e.g. ventilation),
  • roofing and sheet metal works,
  • installation of large-format advertisements (billboards),
  • installation of decorations,
  • erecting or demolishing steel structures,
  • greenery care (e.g. tree trimming),
  • orchard work (e.g. fruit picking),
  • loading and unloading goods, warehouse work,
  • removing snow from roofs, cleaning gutters and other cleaning works,
  • actions and firefighting exercises.

Selecting the appropriate type and parameters of the lift allows for trouble-free implementation of each of these tasks, while ensuring a high level of safety. This is, among other things, why it is such widely used equipment.

What are the most popular types of lifts?

Lifts come in many variants that differ not only in height, but also in other details of construction and purpose. At least several types can be distinguished. Some of them are quite universal, others are intended only for specific applications. Below you will find an overview of some of the most popular types of lifts.

Goods lifts

Cargo lifts are designed to move various loads in a vertical plane. They are useful in warehouses and logistics centers, e.g. when loading and unloading goods. They can also facilitate the assembly of heavy elements at heights, which is why they are used on construction sites and in other situations. They allow you to work with heavy elements quite easily and safely.

Personnel lifts

Personnel lifts can be used during construction, renovation, assembly work and more. These are usually relatively small structures with platforms raised to a height of several to several meters. Both are available sliding passenger lifts, which must be moved manually, as well as self-propelled lifts.

Scissor lifts

Scissor lifts get their name from the design of the lifting mechanism. Thanks to this, they have a distinctive appearance and cannot be confused with other devices. They come in many variants. For example self-propelled scissor lifts they use combustion or electric drive to move, while the platform is lifted by an electric drive, hydraulic drive or a combination of both. The platform moves only in the vertical axis.

Articulated boom lifts

Articulated boom lifts have a very specific design. The basket is attached to a mast with three bending points, which allows you to reach hard-to-reach places (e.g. behind an obstacle). For this reason, it is equipment "for special tasks", used primarily in difficult conditions.

Articulated boom lifts

Articulated boom lifts, thanks to the special mast design, provide maximum flexibility in manipulating the position of the basket. They are ideal wherever you need to avoid an obstacle.

Telehandlers

Telescopic handlers are designed for all tasks that require a large arm reach. The telescopic structure of the mast allows work at very high heights. At the same time, it allows you to reach the place where a specific task is to be performed without having to drive the machine, e.g. to a building, because the basket can also be moved horizontally.

Telescopic basket lifts they are actually only used for outdoor work. There are models available that move perfectly even on difficult terrain.

The use of lifts in everyday work

As already mentioned, lifts have very diverse applications. They are used in many industries, both for everyday and more demanding tasks.

Lifts in the construction industry

The construction industry uses both scissor lifts, goods lifts and telescopic lifts. It all depends on the type of task performed. These are machines used during facade work (painting, plastering), insulation, installation of external installations, roofing works and many other tasks.

Lifts for assembly work

Assembly work at heights is much easier if properly selected lifts are used. In this case, both passenger and goods lifts prove to be extremely helpful. Installing lighting, installations, insulation, decorations, billboards, windows and other elements does not have to be a problem - even if all the work is performed at a height of several or even several dozen meters.

Lifts for cleaning work

Lifts are also used during cleaning works - both in public spaces and on private properties. They can help with trimming greenery (trees), removing the effects of disasters, demolitions, cleaning gutters and other similar tasks. In this case, they are often used articulated boom lifts allowing you to reach even the most difficult to reach places.

Lifts for conservation work

Reconstruction of facades and its elements or other conservation works within buildings often have to be performed at heights. Many times lifts are much more convenient than, for example, scaffolding, because they help you reach any place and do not require time-consuming construction and demolition.

Lifts in the gardening/orchard industry

Lifts are also used in orchards and when maintaining greenery in gardens, parks and squares. They provide excellent support during fruit harvesting, providing a much higher level of safety than ladders. They are also ideal for tree trimming and even spraying.

When is it worth leaseing lifts?

If you need a lift, leaseing may be the best solution in several situations. The short-term one works ad hoc - for work performed once or periodically (e.g. once a year). By leaseing, you can reduce costs and get help in selecting the right equipment for a specific task.

Long-term leaseal of lifts may also be recommended - this is a solution for those users who need equipment for everyday work, but do not want to invest significant funds in purchasing the equipment.
